The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) has released New Zealand’s first national Food Loss and Waste Baseline. It’s a welcome milestone that provides a first directional picture of where food is being lost across the supply chain.  As the report authors note, the results come with significant data gaps that mean the findings from the baseline should be interpreted with “caution”.  To further the discussion on steps to strengthen the baseline over time, Kai Commitment has submitted a formal comment to MfE.  Read it here.
